Martin Margiela has always struck me for the genius of which are imbued his creations. Its design subverts the natural order of things (assuming that such an order really exists!), is deconstructive, is subversive. You love it, or hate it. There is no middle ground.
This year, the Maison is twenty years old and an exhibition at Somerset House in London offers the possibility, from June 3 to Sept. 5, to retrace all the optical illusions that Margiela has wanted to give to fashion, to investigate its revolutionary language and perhaps to understand the personality of this artist, who has been able to dictate uses and customs, always remaining so far from noisy fashion jet set.
A "journey" of this caliber, in the avant-garde couture, among the principal clothes and accessories of the Maison's collections, among installations, audio-visual reconstructions, images and video, we would not really lose it, never..

Martin Margiela mi ha sempre colpito per la genialità di cui sono impregnate le sue creazioni. Il suo design sovverte l'ordine naturale delle cose (ammesso che un ordine del genere esista), è decostruttivo, è sovversivo. Lo si ama o lo si odia. Non ci sono vie di mezzo.
Quest'anno la Maison compie vent'anni ed una mostra alla Somerset House di Londra da la possibilità, dal 3 Giugno al 5 Settembre, di ripercorrere tutte le illusioni ottiche che Margiela ha voluto regalare alla moda, di indagare sul suo linguaggio rivoluzionario e forse di comprendere la personalità di questo artista, che è stato capace di dettare usi e costumi pur rimanendo sempre lontano dal rumoroso fashion jet set.
Un "viaggio" di questo calibro, nell'avant-garde couture, tra i capi principali delle collezioni della Maison, installazioni, ricostruzioni audio-visive, immagini e video, non vorremmo davvero perderlo, mai e poi mai..
